Visual Computing Summer School

The summer school is an innovative demonstration of the fundamental theory and developing frontier in the field of visual computing, contributed by Visual Computer Research Center at the College of Computer Science and Software Engineering of Shenzhen University and top experts from China and overseas countries. Instructors of the summer school are from world-leading universities, including Tel Aviv University, The Hebrew University of Jerusalem, Israeli Multidisciplinary Center, Ben-Gurion University, Simon Fraser University, University of Konstanz, Princeton University, The University of Hong Kong, The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, Microsoft Research Asia, Zhejiang University, CAS Institute of Software, Shenzhen Institutes of Advanced Technology and Shenzhen University. From the summer school, we hope through enhancing the exchange with top experts in the field of visual computing to build future cooperation. Besides, we wish students will have a deep understanding of the core problem and technology frontier of visual computing and make a better career plan. The summer school can also help students to improve themselves for future visiting abroad.

 

The summer school mainly focuses on visual computing, including three major topics: computer graphics, computer vision and visualization, and visual analysis. For each topic, we invite well-known experts in this field to introduce its history, current research, and cutting-edge technology and its application in daily life. At the same time, we have scheduled class practice and on-the-spot visit, which will guide the student to use 3ds Max software, which is widely used in industries such as advertisement, film and television, game, and design, to establish the three-dimensional model.

 

Through the study, students can fully understand the research hotspots and cutting-edge technologies in the field of visual computing and prepare themselves well for future study and work in this field. For example, students can learn how to make high-level semantic understanding of digital geometry model, how to design a friendly human-machine interface, how to apply 3D digital modeling to popular industries such as game and film, and how to use and improve 3D printing technology to assist the production of large-scale products and personalized products. After in-class practices, students can have a preliminary understanding of professional 3D modeling and rendering software, which is good for their deep learning and acquisitions in the future.

 

Students can also have one-on-one opportunities to communicate with world famous professors and top experts, talk about the innovative thinking, exchange ideas, and do some brainstorming. Excellent students will get the opportunity to visit and study in well-known overseas visual computing laboratories.

 

本暑期课程是深圳大学计算机软件学院可视计算研究中心协同国内外顶级专家对可视计算领域的基础理论与发展前沿进行多方位介绍的创新示范。本课程的主要授课者包括来自于以以色列特拉维夫大学、以色列希伯来大学、以色列交叉学科中心、以色列本古里安大学、加拿大西蒙弗雷泽大学、德国康斯坦茨大学、美国普林斯顿大学、香港大学、香港科技大学、微软亚洲研究院、浙江大学、中科院软件所、中科院深圳先进技术研究院、深圳大学等国内外高等院校及科研机构的知名教授。以本课程为契机,一方面,我们希望通过与可视计算领域的顶级专家进行更深入地交流,为以后的项目合作奠定良好的基础;另一方面,我们也希望学生能对当前在可视计算领域的核心问题和技术前沿有更加全面和深刻的了解,对自身有更明确的职业规划,并为其今后的出国访问创造条件。

 

本课程的主要内容将围绕着可视计算这一主题全面铺开,包括计算机图形学、计算机视觉和可视化与可视分析三大专题。针对每一专题,我们都会邀请本领域的知名专家对这一领域的发展历史、当前研究热点、最前沿的科学技术以及其在实际生活中的应用前景进行逐层介绍。同时,我们还安排了上课实践和实地参观,将指导学生运用在广告、影视、游戏、设计等行业中广泛使用的3ds Max专业软件完成三维模型的创建。 

 

通过本课程的学习,学生可以全方位地了解可视计算领域的研究热点和前沿技术,为今后在本方向上的学习和工作打下基础。例如,学生可以了解到如何对数字几何模型进行高层次的语义理解,如何设计友好的人机交互界面,如何将三维数字建模应用到游戏和电影等热门产业,以及如何利用和改善现有的3D打印技术来辅助大规模产品或个性化产品的批量生产私人定制等等。通过上机实践,学生可以对专业三维建模和渲染软件有初步了解,为今后的深入学习和熟练掌握奠定良好基础。

 

学生还可以获得与国内外知名教授一对一的沟通机会,与领域顶级专家畅谈创新思维,分享奇思妙想,头脑风暴,扩宽视野,碰撞出思想火花。对于优秀学员,还有机会获得到国外知名可视计算实验室交流访问、联合培养的机会。

Visual Computing Research Center可视计算研究中心介绍

Visual Computing Research Center at Shenzhen University was established in January 2016, which is aimed to be a leading center in the College of Computer Science of Software Engineering. Director of the Visual Computing Research Center, Distinguished Professor Hui Huang, is the NSFC Excellent Young Scientist, CAS Lujiaxi Young Talent, Guangdong Technological Innovation Leading Talent, and Shenzhen Peacock Talent. The research team consists of 2 distinguished professors, 4 visiting professors, 5 assistant professors, 2 postdoc researchers, 4 engineers, 2 administrative assistants, and numerous PhD and master students. Cutting across multiple disciplines such as computer graphics, computer vision and visualization, the Visual Computing Research Center conducts deep research on 3D acquisition/understanding/modeling and visual analytics/computing, with applications in virtual reality, smart city, E-commercial, manufacture, education, art and entertainment. The center currently has Fetch mobile robot, MOMA general robot research platform, Husky A200 outdoor intelligent mobile scanning platform, Velodyne HDL-64E HD remote laser scanner, UAV airborne laser radar systems and high-definition camera systems, high-end graphics workstation cluster, Object30 Prime 3D printer, large seamless multi-screen display system, DJI UAV collection platform, and all kinds of multi-scale and multi-precision 3D handheld scanners. VCC has built an internationally advanced research laboratory on visual computing and visual analysis, and has established a close collaboration with international famous research groups from the United States, Israel, Canada, Germany, Hong Kong, etc. High-level international research workshops and summer camps are organized every year to effectively and constantly enhance the academic impact of VCC.

可视计算研究中心介绍

深圳大学可视计算研究中心成立于2016年1月,成立初始即被列为学院重点培育方向,带头人黄惠特聘教授,为国家优青、中科院卢嘉锡青年人才、省科技创新领军人才和深圳市海外高层次孔雀人才。研究团队还拥有5名特聘访问教授、5名助理教授、2名博士后、4名工程师、2名管理助理和众多博硕研究生。中心致力于大力提升可视计算科学研究与高等教育水平,以计算机图形学、计算机视觉和可视化为学科基础,促进多个学科的深入交叉和集成创新,重点推进大规模静动态数据获取与融合、多尺度几何建模与智能编辑、复杂场景重建与识别理解、三维移动协同感知与人机交互、海量数据可视化与可视分析等方面的科学技术研究。中心目前所拥有的主要设备包括Fetch移动机器人、MOMA通用机器人研究平台、Husky A200室外智能移动扫描平台、Velodyne HDL-64E高清远程激光扫描仪、UAV无人机载激光雷达系统与高清摄像系统、高端图形工作站集群、Object30 Prime 3D打印机、大型多屏无缝显示系统、大疆无人机采集平台以及各类多尺度多精度三维手持扫描设备等。中心与美国、加拿大、以色列、德国和香港地区等国际知名研究小组紧密合作,每年组织举办高水平的国际学术讨论会。
